Whenever I give a talk or host a show, I’ve heard from this community time and again that one of the most valuable things is the Q&A wrap up. Straight up. You asking questions and me doing my best to answer them. And not just the “how’d you get started in photography” questions…. we’re talking the hard questions, landing clients, hiring staff, working with challenging clients, legal questions, gear questions, portfolio questions, whatever you can muster…
As such, we’re dedicating and entire 90 minute chasejarvisLIVE show to this topic this Wednesday. We will take some questions LIVE via the #cjlive or #AskChase hashtag on Twitter (follow @chasejarvis here) during the broadcast, however, so that we can be organized and get through as many questions as possible, please frame your questions below in the comments. I plan on building a photobooth – what do you think is a good external flash?
Can you speak a little about how turning down projects effects or has effected your career path, growth, personal development, financial planning, etc.? What was the hardest project you’ve ever turned down?
As a self taught photographer who’s only really shot for fun, I get lost on what are probably most people’s basics. I want to expand and grow as a business, but workflow can be a hang up. Where can I find out how photographers operate on a day to day basis? Like – everything from processing images to what the client expects to see to needed forms and releases?
I’m planning to do off camera speedlight portraits. Currently I’m using a tripod as a speedlight stand. I’d like to buy some Manfrotto type stands for my speedlight setup. Which stands would you recommend for using with speedlights. The stands need to be small and lightweight to carry around with me. Thanks.
