The 60 Second Portrait [Mike Horn]

As a springboard from all the portrait work I've done over the past three years, I, at some time during that process, became really attuned/enamored/moved by people's faces and started experimenting with a new creative study. Internally we're calling it "60". In short, it's really simple: I'm taking 60 second video portraits of people. No instruction, no direction, no coaching, nothing. Just the camera pointed at them for a minute. Although the concept is simple,... read more ›

Chase Jarvis SHORTS: Don’t Forget to Have a Laugh [video]

So much of the discussion in the photography and advertising worlds online is about the serious side of things. Creative problems, budgets, timelines, travel, gear, etc. And, indeed, there's a lot of serious aspects therein. But in truth--especially when shooting on location--there's a whole helluva a lot of fun that happens. And that fun is an important part of it that rarely comes across in all the photo/film industry ranting online. It's that... read more ›

Jeremy is a great photographer and a uber-talented, hardworking and humble guy. And he's... read more ›

Google “Goggles” Will Soon Find Your Photos

If you're like me, you probably use your iphone/android/whatever phone camera as a visual journal. Certainly I shoot creative photos with it, but I'm also constantly generating snapshots of things I like, patterns, ideas, magazine covers, ads, and other stuff that act as inspiration or reminders for me to check out something in greater detail later when I've got more time. Well, Google's new-ish app "Google Goggles" capitalizes on this. Snap a photo, do a... read more ›

How Cameras Interact with Stuntmen

Happy Friday. I'm on the road today, but thought I'd squeeze in this video I found interesting. It illustrates--without all the CGI and Hollywood set, post production, and mojo coverup--some cool interplay between stunt men/women and a few RED cinema cameras on booms, jibs, cables and handheld. Basically, it's a BTS stunt training video. You'll need to slide into the vid a bit you see the actual cameras (the target of this vid... read more ›

Chase Jarvis Keynote Address on ‘Social Art’ from Photo Plus Expo NYC

In the past several days, I've received a ton of correspondence asking if I'd re-post my chasejarvisLIVE Keynote address from the PDN Photo Plus Expo in NYC last week. You asked for it, you got it. At about the 25-or-so minute mark, I wrap up my monologue and invite a handful of guests on stage, all of whom I consider my friends who are living my message. I think you'll be quite engaged.... read more ›

I'm excited and proud to officially announce today the launch of Seattle 100: Portrait of a City. If you've been following along here for the past few weeks, you've seen me writing and vlogging about it. Well, now it's finally here. And like many... read more ›

The show's logo is displayed on the left side, with "THE CHASE JARVIS LIVE" in bold black text inside yellow rectangles, stacked vertically. The right side of the image features a robotic figure, resembling a humanoid robot, meticulously working on a canvas. The robot is painting or drawing a grayscale portrait of a human-like figure. The robot's detailed mechanical components are visible, and the scene evokes themes of artificial intelligence, creativity, and technology.
