SPIKE – the Robotic Phantom Camera – Shoots Better Than You

Across the pond from me in Germany there is some stunning work getting kicked out of a little boutique firm called The Marmalade that you should know about. I'm drawn to more than just the final result...I love HOW they're acheiving it too... Behind the scenes thinking and such below. Have a great Monday.

Slow Motion Shark Attack: A Phantom Captures a Predator in Action

I'm headed to South Africa in just a few days to reunite with our friend Mike Horn onboard the Pangaea. This area of the world is one of the places where the powerful and eerily beautiful Great White shark likes to hang out. The internet tells me that there have beeb 214 shark attacks and 42 fatalities in the past 100 years in the waters of South Africa - and that the area near Capetown... read more ›

chase jarvis live superfad phantom
3 weeks ago, I put the $150,000 Phantom Flex camera through its paces during an experimental fashion shoot with my good friend, director Will Hyde from Superfad. We had an absolute blast. We also had superhot female talent, an epic wardrobe, do-it-yourself solutions mixed with the highest end pro gear, and more than 50,000 watts of light. While the shoot went on for 6 hours, this here re-watch has been trimmed to include... read more ›

The Youth Gone Wild. In Reverse.

I stumbled on this a while ago and forgot to share... The controversial UK teen show came to the USA. Let's skip the debate about the morality of the content--whether it's exploitative or informative or neither. On a purely visual basis, I'd say Writer/Director Evan Silver comes up gold in the promotional intro to MTV's "Skins" about the youth gone wild. IMHO it's dope. Inspirational cinematography that's not over the top technically. Well written. A... read more ›

Insane Footage at 100mph & 1000fps [via The Creators Project]

I wish I had a better plan, but I’m trying to make a film about the world right now through my eyes. I’m trying to use some of this technology we have right now, like our cinema truck and our snowmobile systems and our helicopter systems, to tell the story of the world today in a different way. -Curt MorganWhat do you get when you get when you combine some military spec gyro stabilization with... read more ›

Superfad Delivers the Superdope for Sony

I really enjoy the integration of live-action and motion design production. Turns out that my good friend Will Hyde--the ECD over at Superfad and all around super-talented guy with whom I co-directed a music video a while back (not near as supercool as this stuff here...but fun nonetheless)--has really outdone himself in the latest Sony campaign called "Eye Candy". Great little behind-the-scenes piece here showing the amazing work of Will and his Superfad crew on... read more ›
