New Website

Lots of updating and housecleaning going on around here lately, the most fun being the launch of our new site here at www.chasejarvis.com.

As such, I wanted to invite you to poke around our new digs. Lots of new photos–twenty something new galleries, there’s finally a video page, and…well..a lot more. And we’re continuing to update and transform the site into a smooth machine over the coming week. That said, your feedback is incredibly valuable to us. We’re listening – so thanks in advance. We know there’s still a lot to work on, especially with the blog and the mobile version. (There’s still flash in there, but, we’re evolving and will continue to…). At any rate please hit up whatever needs addressing in the comments. Or if it’s time sensitive and something’s busted, ping @dartanyon.

Huge thanks to my crew for the hard work – especially amidst all the other work we are lucky enough to be buried in. And we’d be remiss to not thank the great team at Livebooks.com – Matt, Dale, Adam, and Jericho. Thanks a mil for the collaborative process in creating our new site.

I’ll be on the Twit.tv Photo show at 1:30PM today talking about the new site, and photography in general. Tune in.

And again, thank YOU for visiting.

I like the new look. But as others have said, Flash? I’m not completely against Flash but there are better options. You don’t need HTML5 to get this look, JS/HTML4/CSS2 would get you there.

A couple of problems I can see at the moment, the back button doesn’t seem to work (at least in Chrome). The gallery pages (photos, projects) seem to take an age to load. There’s only a few thumbnails, they should download in a snap.

I know you’re working with a partner so there will be limits with what you can do and the quality of your work far outweighs my nitpickings.

great stuff. did you remix some of the photos?

personally, not a fan of the blog layout. feels a little cluttered. also, i miss the info for each image in the gallery. it was really insightful.

First, I love all the new work that you put up and have looked through every gallery at least twice now.

The search function isn’t working for me. The search box doesn’t match where you actually type and if you click within the box it links you back to your home page.

Trying to go to previous blog postings the link “older entries” takes you to a different view of the current posts and it won’t go back further. Even if you manually type in the page number you want in the url it still takes you to the same page.

Good luck with all the debugging that comes along with a new great looking site. Cheers

Love your content. Have been a CJ fan since the beginning. But there’s too much. I spend more time clicking around from image to image, rather then really appreciating your work in full. You have super strong images mixed with weaker ones. Narrow it down to your best 20 (minimum) to 30 (maximum) images. That’s all you need. 5 is the magic number. After the 5th image, a potential client will know if he or she will want to hire you or not. Clients don’t have time to sift through a dozen image galleries. Your website is the handshake (make it brief, strong and memorable) and your social media sites are an extension of your hand shake- put all other content there.
Lose the font style. Your content is original and one of a kind as it’s always been. Find a font that will match it. Lose the flash. 1/2 of your image galleries don’t show up. Having to refresh is redundant and not fun.

    Continue with the amazing imagery.
