Which Photo is Better: A or B?

Alrighty. Regardless of the fact that this A or B series (here, here, and here) has been really interesting for us, helpful, and popular with you (the last such post received over 1000 comments in 24 hours)…

This time it is of even greater interest for us. You see, we’re doing some image editing around here and we’ve stumbled into a little internal debate about which one of these two images is actually better, A or B. [You might remember these shots from the Nikon D7000 campaign…]

Hearing from you will help really help us. No qualifiers, don’t worry about our objectives, or the “assignment”. We want to know which one of these shots you like better. And please tell us in the comments below, not via twitter. Raw preference. Period. If you can add some “why”, that would be nice too. Full 600 pixel wide images after the jump. Hit ‘continue reading’ below [and btw, I’ve got a $1 gentlemen’s bet riding with Erik about which one will win, so don’t let me down!]…

After you all weigh in, I’ll tell you which one I like, which one I thought you’d like, and why.

This is image A, below:

This is image B, below:

So which photo is better? A or B?

First choice when I saw the images was A because it took my attention right on. Think because the lighting and the colors. But when I saw B it raised a lot of questions: where are they, who is she, where are they going to. Are they friends, a band with a van to the next gig. Did the car broke down… and on and on and on…. So at the end, I choose B, because it makes me think and wonder….

B tells a story but visually, A is just much more appealing.

Hilarious that there are this many comments and they are all so varied!

There was no hard decision for mee:
    B
It looks appealing, finished and makes mee look again,
where as in A it looks as if the photographer snuck a snapshot and realized it wasn’t exactly what they were looking for; almost as if the model is too disheveled.

I’m curious to hear from non-photographers though, people who don’t sit and look at photos all day-I seem to get the purest answers and feedback from people who don’t exactly see through an “edited eye”

    Cheerio

    B. Compositionally it feels more balanced to me. But the greeny hue on the shadows in A make it interesting. ps. that chick is hot. Call me.

    B. The rawness just drags you into the scene.
