A while back I had Grammy Award Winner, Sir Mix-A-lot on chasejarvisLIVE. The guy is smart – dropped some pretty serious knowledge on the show [here’s the re-watch if you missed it].
At the end of the show, I shot the cover for his upcoming album, live, online. Here are the results.
The lead one that shows his face is my fav, but there’s plenty of debate, because the other shot is tough and mysterious. I’ll resist the temptation to make any real case for one or the other, and I’ll let this is a straight up survey – which photo do you like better A (top) or B (bottom)? (please answer in the post, not via other social channels so we don’t have to chase your feedback – thx!)
Thanks for your input.

A – the fur distracts from the subject. That being said if I had taken either of them I’d be pretty freakin’ happy.
Love A because you can see his face. Both are incredible works!
A is my preference.
For some reason, I had to look at B several times before I realized that SMAL was holding a wine glass. There’s something about the shapes created by his hands and the glass that makes it visually confusing.
My $.02.

My pick is A simply because it shows more of Sir Mixalot and her ass is a lot more perky than in the second photo. As a consumer, it’d allow me to recognize his face a lot easier, which would probably result in a quicker sale.
However, if it were a personal choice without any need to market or sell a product, I’d pick B because the image pulls me in more. The lighting treatment is perfect, the rimlight on the hat is spot on, the exposure on the coat and hands are spot on, the angle of the desk is perfect in that while I know its cluttered, it doesn’t take as much space in the frame as it does in A so it’s not as distracting. If I were to walk by this photo, I would stop in my tracks and come closer so I can figure out 1) who this man is and 2) what’s he got in that glass. But I would trade the fur-less woman from exhibit A.
In any case, both photos have swag but B’s got a lot more drama while A’s a lot more consumer-friendly.
B – far more engaging a shot and the lighting on the girl is more involving.
