Whenever I give a talk or host a show, I’ve heard from this community time and again that one of the most valuable things is the Q&A wrap up. Straight up. You asking questions and me doing my best to answer them. And not just the “how’d you get started in photography” questions…. we’re talking the hard questions, landing clients, hiring staff, working with challenging clients, legal questions, gear questions, portfolio questions, whatever you can muster…
As such, we’re dedicating and entire 90 minute chasejarvisLIVE show to this topic this Wednesday. We will take some questions LIVE via the #cjlive or #AskChase hashtag on Twitter (follow @chasejarvis here) during the broadcast, however, so that we can be organized and get through as many questions as possible, please frame your questions below in the comments. How can one afford to purchase better equipment without having you save and never spend a dime on anything else for months on end?
What are the best ways of getting in with studios or starting your own commercial studio fresh out of school? What would you look for if you were hiring a second photographer for your business?
What (position) was your first full-time hire/employee in your studio? In retrospect, would it be the same now?
Was there a defined “tipping point” in your career – that first glimpse of national client awareness and respect for your work? If so, what was it – an idea, a person, a client, a project, an image? Just grabbed a new nikon D7000 after reading your review and watching the short film. Love what you did and hope to replicate similar results.
Q: When shooting and testing for a client such as Nikon, is there a limit to the creative freedom, budget or objectives you are given? And is shooting such a project as fun as it looks?

As with many photographers there is a balance between whimsy and reality. How do you shape your romantic affair with Photography? Many photographers I see have gear lust…that’s their competition…and sometimes their downfall.
