Me and/or my crew have been in Paris, NYC, LA, Seattle, and Salt Lake City in the past 10 days alone. Given that sort of schedule, we don’t always have time/ability to cut together a chasejarvisLIVE re-watch (that’s why you should always watch live), but this was an absolute must. It was an epic show.
Chryde, founder of amazing La Blogotheque/Take Away Shows, was our first guest all the way from Paris. He lays down how exactly he created his dream career uniting filmmaking, music and an unwavering focus.
Then, perhaps the fastest rising hiphop act in the country, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, join us onstage to drop knowledge and answer live questions about staying true to one’s art, the evolution of creativity in a digital age, and more. And of course they follow up all the talk with a fresh-ass LIVE set that is not to be missed.
Lastly, I wanna give a big shoutout to our first in-studio audience – 40 lucky friends & fans dropped in on our “garage” soundstage in Seattle from all corners of the country and abroad, after winning the chance to attend. Incredible energy. Tons of fun. It was amazing to meet all of you. Stay tuned for the next #cjLIVE announcement – I’m banking we’ll be inviting another 40 people to join us in Seattle.
Until the next time, enjoy the re-watch, and if you like what you see, please share it with your friends. And by popular request – if you don’t want to miss the next show, drop your email addy in the box on this page here. Many thanks!
Great interview with Chryde. Have loved the Blogotheque from Day One. Nice job, Chase.
Too bad I couldn’t watch this live (bandwidth trouble), because this episode of cjLive is absolutely great! Super inspiring from you Chase, but also from your guests. I feel like I’m getting wiser every time I watch an episode of cjLive. Great work!
Also, the visuals of Macklemore performing are stunning, so props to Erik, Scott & Scott!
Thanks Chase.
Oh man, have to share this, ill call it: Taking photos and TaLking photos.
Yesterday I was shooting at the beach at Egmond san Zee, close to Amsterdam, NL. I was with my old Nikon D70s at the beach trying some new stuff busting my gear in the sand and sold, just enjoying myself in my true nature (I meditate and practice yoga, but nothing get’s me more in my natural state than taking photos.)
A man came to me, he was German, I could see he was a photographer, he was checking out my set up: manfrotto arm, super clamp, pocket wizards etc. and I saw him hurting.
He started talking about him being a full time photographer in the past for Der Spiegel, big German newspaper and now being a photo editor for a economical thing .
He talked about how much he disliked his job as a photo editor compared to being a full time photographer. He felt he needed to make the change because he had to take care for his family. Damn, I could see his pain.
We had a lovely conversation with saying he recognized the passion and that I should go for my dreams and me telling him to find a way to go for his dreams again some way, some how.
Getting out there every day and taking photos is one thing, but talking to these wonderful people every day is just as wonderful and maybe better. They are all like books or iPads that are floating around and they are there for you to give you information if you interact.
I know one thing, I have been there already many times not enjoying myself in my work or waiting for the right opportunity or persons to come to me or better gear, to the point I felt like dying for one year long.
Well, passed that some time ago, been there, done that, never going back again. I will make it as a photographer some how, I don’t want any more regrets. And I’m just shooting with my D70s at the moment with a 10.5mm fisheye that makes more noise than loading a analog camera all together and a 50mm 1.8. This is what I will be doing the rest of my life, any day, every day. For love, good coffee and cycling. Peace and thanks for the sharing.
