New Website

Lots of updating and housecleaning going on around here lately, the most fun being the launch of our new site here at www.chasejarvis.com.

As such, I wanted to invite you to poke around our new digs. Lots of new photos–twenty something new galleries, there’s finally a video page, and…well..a lot more. And we’re continuing to update and transform the site into a smooth machine over the coming week. That said, your feedback is incredibly valuable to us. We’re listening – so thanks in advance. We know there’s still a lot to work on, especially with the blog and the mobile version. (There’s still flash in there, but, we’re evolving and will continue to…). At any rate please hit up whatever needs addressing in the comments. Or if it’s time sensitive and something’s busted, ping @dartanyon.

Huge thanks to my crew for the hard work – especially amidst all the other work we are lucky enough to be buried in. And we’d be remiss to not thank the great team at Livebooks.com – Matt, Dale, Adam, and Jericho. Thanks a mil for the collaborative process in creating our new site.

I’ll be on the Twit.tv Photo show at 1:30PM today talking about the new site, and photography in general. Tune in.

And again, thank YOU for visiting.

Hi Chase! I’ve been a quiet visitor for a long time. I love the new structure and general order of the site and the blog. Congrats on that! Looking forward to even more inspiring content and discussions.

If I may, I would like to join some of the other comments on the typewriter looking font. I’m not a very big fan of it and it doesn’t seem to fit well with your CHASEJARVIS logo at the top. A lot of the elements on the site are square and this font is too jiggly for it to look natural (in my humble opinion as a visitor).
The same is valid for the font on the “hover over” effect with the red semi-transparent background. With the images below still patially visible and uneven font letters it can often be difficult to read.

I’d also move the area for leaving comments on the blog above the list with existing comments – when the list runs very long it’s easier and quicker to post a comment. I realize it might lead to some people not reading everything, but that’s not always necessary.

Lastly, I would be happy to see a larger default font for the blog posts and comments. It’s rather tiring to read at 1920×1200 while it’s always a joy to read your posts and the discussions. 🙂

I hope I haven’t come out too criticizing. I love the new design, just wish the fonts will be easier to read and more fitting to the overall look. 🙂 You’re an inspiring photographer! Love your work and what you do to teach and educate others! Keep it up.

I love all the new content! the added photos and more videos is great….

but MAN, can i just piggy back on the font comments, i was a fan of the small fonts myself once too but I am having a hard time reading the font, and if i am wearing my contacts well forget it. I’m sure you’ll get that worked out cause It seems i’m not alone…heck, i can barely read what I’m writing in this box!

but again I love all the added content…so until the font thing gets worked out, your my “playboy magazine”…no one actually reads the storys, we just come here for the pictures.

The whole site seems to be down at the moment other then this BLOG. This may be due to updating ref the font issues people refer to. Also, fyi, your latest blog entry on your Best Camera site is 21st October 2010. Although we all appreciate how busy you are and we clearly see it based on your excellent videos and hectic lifestyle, to someone new to you/your work/best cam site, they might think you rarely update the site as its over 8 months since the last blog entry.

Having said that, I really admire your work and the fact you share tips and secrets and advice with other photographers and are very active about helping those not lucky enough to be in a position to have the equipment or ability you have and I think its amazing you share and interact so much with your fans/followers.

If your ever in Dublin Ireland, I want to buy you a pint of Guinness or a nice whiskey as a thank you!

    Respect
