“Clobbered” was the headline in this morning Seattle Times, referring to Sandy, the “Super Storm,” that’s pounding the northeast. I just saw images and read a figure that there may well be 20-90 billion in damages as well as continued loss of life. What a crusher. Wanted everyone who is affected over there – including your families and friends – to know that our hearts and thoughts are with you. We hope that the death toll rises no more and that any of the missing or needing rescue find help arrive speedily.
The gallery above is but a fraction of what’s out there. If there are other equally powerful images that we’ve missed, please feel free to share in the comments below.

Huge debt of gratitude to those journalists and news organizations who are brave enough to be capturing thse images in NYC, Washington and surroundings and sharing them with the world. Thank you to the photographers who are out there enduring the risk and for raising our awareness. Your photos, video and stories are keeping us connected as the event unfolds. Without your courage and commitment the rest of us would have but the faintest of notions as to Sandy’s destructive power.
Thanks and keep holding on.

I’m all for more art. Not sure about plants though. Unless they scream, I generally forget to feed them. And I haven’t found a screaming plant as of yet (still hoping!)
Many people questioned Australia’s interest in Myanmar. The visit of Kevin Rudd’s visit to Myanmar attracted scant interests in Australia and hardly noticed internationally. One can’t help but think that going to Myanmar means getting as far away from Julia Gillard being worth the visit. Although it is interesting to note that Myanmar did rate Kevin Rudd’s visit high enough for him to received by its President.
Example : PAD close 2 international airport and get charge with Terrorist act. PAD was support by Thai queen royal family so charge was drop and nothing happened.
andothers #5 “This judge seems sympathetic…” : Could it be that this judge is not “sympathetic,” but actually resolved to be what every judge should be impartial & dedicated to the idea that a suspect can only be convicted on the basis of irrefutable evidence that shows beyond a shadow of doubt that the accused is guilty? So far the prosecution have supplied no evidence of this kind, & it’s fairly clear that they have none. Their case is obviously insubstantial & extremely flimsy, & it’s clear that any judge who is using legal norms would be getting rather irritated by the waste of time.
Do Thais really need Reform Panels? First we ask for Independent Investigation Panels for Justice, but we got more non-voted rulers…
