Remember when I did the original chasejarvisLIVE photo shoot way back in winter? If you recall, I was shooting the album cover image for alt/punk country band Brent Amaker and the Rodeo. We also did post production and editing on the images LIVE as well a few weeks after the shoot. Well now it’s time to print these suckers on a limited edition run of vinyl and there is somewhat of a debate on which image is better.
Simply put, and with no further explanation, I thought I’d ask for your thoughts. So which is better, A or B?

has to b “A” its lot easier on the eye, the girl becomes an obstruction in “B” so “A” get my vote…Great Shot
A. The position of the woman leads me on a circular journey around the entire photo (a couple of times). In photo B the standing woman stops me from exploring the rest of the photo.
Definitely A.. although the highlight should be mainly on the band.. I feel the over all mood seems to fit the posture of the models and band members in A, whether or not they are too dark. I also like how the models correlate much better in A than they do in B… overall B feels like a “really cool” snap shot from a party where as A has a concept or thought behind it.. that gives you a sinister almost evil feeling.. which I enjoy very much.
B!
B is the way I see it. Even though the model in the foreground is what draws my attention to the image first, I start to see right through the her and focus on what the band members are doing. It is like someone has opened the front door and you see your host and then everyone else is now in focus because we are directing it to the background.
In image A, all I want to do is focus on the hot chick in the front and all the guys are checking to see if your looking at her chest. LOL! But its true! In the end I forget to see the band and the girl in the arm of the man standing. Plus in the faces on some of the band members are too dark to recognize. I think if I were on a cd I want to be recognized as well as the other band members.
Anyhow that is my story and I am sticking to it!
Tiny nailed it!! B all the way and for the very reasons listed.
I had to go back and notice that A even had someone holding her. I too just looked right past her standing in B and immediately took in the band. Plus I did not notice the faces of half of them in A.
Finally, the white sofa is more subdued in B and does not draw me right away the the brightness.
