Remember when I did the original chasejarvisLIVE photo shoot way back in winter? If you recall, I was shooting the album cover image for alt/punk country band Brent Amaker and the Rodeo. We also did post production and editing on the images LIVE as well a few weeks after the shoot. Well now it’s time to print these suckers on a limited edition run of vinyl and there is somewhat of a debate on which image is better.
Simply put, and with no further explanation, I thought I’d ask for your thoughts. So which is better, A or B?
Vote in the comments. Also love to know ‘why’ if you care to explain. 500 px wide images after the jump…
[ also, reminder that if you like music and you like chasejarvisLIVE, I’m hosting rising hip hip star RA Scion (of Common Market and Victor Shade) TODAY in 90 minutes at 10:30 pacific/1:30 eastern (GMT – 8). Interview with RA and Village Voice/Time Out/Stranger cultural critic Charles Mudede, plus RA performs LIVE at the end of the show. Hope to see you http://www.chasejarvis.com/live today….]A. OR.
B. With the foreground lady standing up…
Love to hear your thoughts.

B, my humble thoughts of the photo: 3 person from A seem off a little. As in not in the right place or right motion for me. (Middle guy, left-back guy, and the model lying post.)
And B catch my sight on it with the nice edge of the model and the natural cool-cowboy feeling is there! Though it’s a band, and B do characterized the band. I do admit the right-guy is felt being pushed to corner.
If it’s for cover use, definitely B is chosen. Well, the title or any text could easily shift in the top and bottom. (I see no space in A.)
Even if the B pic is nicer, I have to say that it’d be forced if put on the LP cover.
My vote goes to the real picture of the band, A!
A
because it feels more like an album cover and leaves some space for a title
I think the other one is slightly better image if it were a fashion or advertising piece but considering the use is an album cover I would go with A
I think both have good qualities but the problem with B is that the model isnt doing anything that striking and the guy in the background to the left isnt doing anything of value in A. Overall I think B is the stronger image even though it seemingly distracts from the band at first.
B!
