I was in Paris last week. Part work, but mostly fun. Eating, drinking, being merry, and of course, snapping photos my iPhone–as I do everyday–with no end goal beyond staying creatively engaged.
I was just now kicking through photos from the trip and stumbled on a couple of snapshots I thought were interesting for various reasons. I’ve posted stuff like this before and was really excited by the resulting discussion, so I figured I’d throw it out there again… These are of course just snapshots, but even snapshots have merit. AND these photos are VERY different from one another…. So, simply put, I thought I’d ask for your thoughts, which is better, A or B? And why?
Vote in the comments. Also love to know ‘why’ if you care to explain. 500 px wide images after the jump…

Here’s Photo A:

Here’s Photo B:
Which is better and why?

I’m gonna go with photo B
A for me. It’s intriguing B was nice if there were cars instead of the motorcycles.
Photo A: Emotion
The world is going on about its usual way & no one seems bothered about the man on the
ground. Some ppl are walking , some are sitting casually.
why is he there? is he ok? probably he’s been there for such a long while that people are used to seeing him that way!
There is a bag next to him: maybe he is selling something & is catching a snooze.
The Primary diagnol leads u to the person on the floor
Secondary diagnol cuts across & breaks the pattern of the ground -giving a striking tonal boost to the image.
The perspective is good & gives a sense of vastness to the image.
Photo B: Symmetry
The buildings, the dotted lines on the left side of the road & the Parked cars all lead u into the picture.
The eye stops at the car in the centre & then darts upwards to the ferris wheel beyond making us wonder that there is probably an Amusement park in the vicinity.
Seems like a crammed car parking slot & looks like the car on the road may not get a slot!
Also of intrst is the ladder sort of thing in the right side of the picture. Makes u wonder wonder what it is for?
shadow details are poor.
Conclusion
Picture A : The eye is held on the man on the floor with a little distraction from the man in white.
Picture B Eye is drawn to the car & then the ferris wheel.
I don’t know which is better, but I prefer B. Why? I like the dark areas, and it is so representative of paris, city (small) cars at both sides of the street, lots of motocycles, the homogenous of the buildings everything shouts PARIS!. It is a incredible beautiful city and this picture got it all.
PS: great work last week, thanks chase, creative live, jasmine and JD.
Hi,
pic A does it for my mood tonight. Pic b is good either. Prefer a atm.
