Get Photo Fit — How to Properly Maintain Your Body: Interview with Dr. Kelly Starrett

I originally met Kelly Starrett through my pal Tim Ferriss (cjLIVE episode here) - who had nothing but amazing things to say... Kelly is a coach, physical therapist, author, speaker, and creator of www.MobilityWOD.com, which has revolutionized how athletes think about human movement and athletic performance (and he's teaching a workshop with our friends over at creativeLIVE today btw.....) In fact, I remember that Tim told me he thought that Kelly could really "help me".... read more ›

Holy Sheep – LED Artwork of Sheep Herding [Suspect]

chasejarvis_sheep art
In a virtual world full of fans, circles, followers and friends, today we celebrate the world's greatest follower: the sheep. Consider: A clever group of Welsh hill farmers dress their flock of unsuspecting sheep up in LED lights and -- with the help of some seriously talented/obedient/well-trained border collies -- create moving art on a hillside and film it from a distance. Check it out: http://youtu.be/D2FX9rviEhw Matt Smith, the co-founder of the ad agency The... read more ›

Nude Photos Prompt Apple to Remove 500px from iTunes App Store

chasejarvis_adultcontent_500px
Yesterday Apple abruptly removed the mega-popular 500px from the iTunes App store today citing the fact that users can search for photos that feature nudity. I caught up with 500px CEO and co-founder Oleg Gutsol for a comment: "Apple's problem with the app is essentially that it was too easy to find nude photos by using the search function of the app. That functionality has been there since the beginning of our development of the... read more ›

How to Raise Your Rates, Deliver Better Work & Get Paid What You Deserve — [Guest Post by Ramit Sethi]

No one has single-handedly given me better insight about the business side of art/photography than New York Times best-selling author, Ramit Sethi. As artists, if we want to make a living with our work, we - like it or not - must foster our business/entrepreneurial skills, we must realize the value of our work, and we must know how to get paid. In this tight little guest post,... read more ›

Skate This: Recycled Skateboard Sculptures

From the street to the gallery: Ever wonder what happens to old skateboards that get tossed when next year's decks come out? Turns out some of them make it into the three-dimensional sculptures of Japanese artist Haroshi. Haroshi takes layers of stacked decks and transforms them into multi-colored body parts, animals, toys and shoes [which I'd definitely wear]. Here's a little insight into the process, taken from the... read more ›

Gorgeous Portraits of Children from 169 Countries — The American Melting Pot

chasejarvis_DannyGoldfield
How does that song go? "I believe the children are our future." While it's an obvious statement, apparently photographer Danny Goldfield shares this same sentiment. Over a period of seven years, he dedicated his work to photographing a child from every country... except he did it at all right on the streets of New York City. The work is not only a journey into the faces of... read more ›

Higher than I’ve Ever Been — [for Clean, Safe Water]

chasejarvis_summitonthesummit
This is the highest I've ever been. It’s weird. Days on Kilimanjaro feel both infinitely long and short at the same time. They are long thanks to pre-dawn wakeups, 10 hours on trail 5 to 14 miles and 3-4,500 vertical feet covered each day. They are short because there is nearly zero time for anything but climbing, preparing for climbing, or, sleeping. Honestly, the focus is a welcome change from the day-to-day “real” world stuff.... read more ›

Top 6 Orchestra Flashmobs — Acts of Robust Hit-and-Run Culture in Public Spaces

There's one thing about classical music that I've always believed: it is far better to see it performed than to hear a recording of it. While this is true for just about all kinds of music, the multi-layered nature of classical compositions (especially pieces that call for large orchestras) make it even more suited than normal for in-person performance. And when those performances take place in public, the experience is all the more radical. Breaking... read more ›

Here We Go! Climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro for Clean Safe Drinking Water

Friends! I’ve sent out a few social pings over the past couple days about being in Africa, but this is really the first time I’ve had more than a moment to share the lay of the land. I’m here on a passion project with a group friends and educators (summitonthesummit.com) to learn more about the global water crisis, share what I learn with the... read more ›
