In case you missed our December 6th, 2011 episode of chasejarvisLIVE, it was all about the portfolio. We had Allegra Wilde, visual strategist and co-founder of eyeist.com on the show, talking about common mis-steps and some of the best ways for your work to get noticed. She even gave us a quick portfolio review and a sneak peek at her upcoming service eyeist.com. Yesterday Allegra and her partners launched their product for the world. Check... read more ›

If you're a regular reader, you know that I am on-the-record with a deep belief that photography and filmmaking are not all about speeds and feeds or how big your megapixels are compared to mine. Nonetheless, I do have a healthy respect for the technical side of the craft -- and for those who dive in deep. Like the guy who made this video, for example. This optical illusion is "purportedly" made possible by synching... read more ›

Congratulations to "Fearless Felix" and the crew at Red Bull for inspiring the world's imagination yesterday when Felix Baumgartner stepped out of his capsule halfway to outer space and plummeted back to Earth from more than 120,000 feet (24 miles) above Roswell, New Mexico. The 43-year-old pilot became the first person to break the sound barrier outside an aircraft reaching speeds of mach 1.24 (834mph). To break the record, he stepped off a tiny ledge... read more ›

#TheMeeting8 - Recap Video from Aspen/Snowmass on Vimeo. Some of you might have noticed that I dropped the behind-the-scenes video last week from the shooting of the Aspen-Snowmass campaign. I launched this immediately following a return visit to Aspen to attend The Meeting, the annual gathering of professional filmmakers, media, and brands. The folks at Aspen put together this cool re-cap video - check it out above. Aspen is always well worth the visit, but... read more ›

Back in July we had MACKLEMORE & RYAN LEWIS on chasejarvisLIVE as part of our Capitol Hill Block Party broadcast. They did an interview with me about their new track "Same Love." Check it out above. Today that track, part of their new album "The Heist," hit #1 on iTunes. The video, featured below, is powerful and beautiful. Great message. Great music. Enjoy. and checkout/please support Music4Marriage.org. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Hey photo friends, Erik here with my quick 2 cents on a new product that has sparked some debate here in the CJ Studio. The Impossible Project has a Kickstarter campaign for their new "Impossible Instant Lab", which will "transform your digital iPhone images into real instant photographs that you can touch, caress and share with friends." Take a look at the Kickstarter video for all the details: I should love this thing. I... read more ›

Last week I hosted author and pitch guru Oren Klaff on chasejarvisLIVE. Wow. I knew it was going to be good - but we had no idea that there would be such a huge reaction to Oren and the information he shared from his book Pitch Anything. The community has been talking about it all week. So here it is again for your viewing and eternal viewing pleasure. Oren is not only the purveyor of... read more ›

Real heli's and remote octo-copters. Flying cameras and world-class athletes. Lots of hard work and a great campaign for one legendary resort. Earlier this year in March you may have tuned into my live-updates while shooting the 2012-2013 campaign for Aspen/Snowmass resort. Amidst our 20 hour days we were able to kick out behind the scenes photos, some daily blog posts and a few other things highlighting our work (thanks to Aspen for being incredibly... read more ›

This is an example of bold creative thinking in advertising. I wish more ads were like this. It's brilliant storytelling and just plain fun to watch. Enjoy your weekend.

The age of context is upon us. Last week we featured some POV footage of mind-blowing surfing action. It was fun, sporting and intentionally creative. The clip above is on the the whole other side of the spectrum. It's real, raw, and unnerving from the middle of an active battlefield. No doubt, it was not created with artistic purpose. But it captures the context and imagery of what it is like, visually, to be in... read more ›
