Picture Monica Lewinsky w a cigar, Hitler in a bunker, the Beatles w their lawyers. It's all here. Or rather it's all in your mind... An Interview I hope You’ll Read [Yours Truly in Juxtapoz Art & Culture Magazine]

I normally don't post or link to my mainstream media coverage here on the blog--not necessarily because of the perceived horn tooting, but primarily because a lot of those articles are just sort of vapid, empty whitewashes with little depth and even less bite. That said, I was just featured in the December issue of Juxtapoz Magazine - one of my favorite art & culture mags, one that I actually buy when I see it... read more ›

A Polaroid A Day for 6,000 Days [18 years!]

NYC Photographer Jamie Livingston shot a Polaroid photo everyday for 6,000 days, or, roughly, 18 years. The first shot was of his girlfriend at the time on March 13, 1979. His last photo was on his deathbed, dying of cancer on October 25, 1997. And so I ask you, how strong is YOUR commitment to a creative life? Enough said. Here's the site where most of the images are scanned in... [Thanks Lee.(via this...)]

How 50 Artists Raised $125,000 for Charity in One Night

Remember the group fine art show I was bubbling about in September? I intro'd it here, updated the project here. In short, 50 fellow artists -- some of the worlds best known photographers, street artists, fashion designers, painters, celebrities, sculptors and more -- came together at the lofty Phillips de Pury gallery in NYC to raise money for charity... This here video chronicles just a part of the story--the making of my piece... read more ›

Gear Details: How We Shot “Dasein: Art of Being” Documentary

NYC street doc setup
Hey friends.  Erik the video guy here. We’ve had a bunch of YOUR questions come in about what gear/process/technique we used to make the Dasein docu-short we posted a couple days ago so I thought I’d chime in with a quick gear- and technique-specific follow up on how this film was made.  First, Chase was the director on the project but wanted to remain focused simply on the overall look and feel. Plus, since he... read more ›

What I Learned From An Experiment in Creative Living

You have certainly heard this from me before, but the more I think about it, study it, and live it, the more I can say definitively that the photographic snapshot has quietly emerged as one of our culture's--if not the world's--most unsung creative heroes. (Here's some deeper explanation.) This little film is an exploration and summary of some thoughts and personal experiences, having just recently carved out a month to live with the... read more ›

Spilling the Beans: Polaroid 50 | 50 | 50 Art Exhibition

If you know anything about me, you know that creating multi-disciplinary, socially enabled art AND getting unlikely people together into one community are really important tenets to my career and my life. It’s with that in mind that I’m today spilling the beans to you about a project on which I’ve quietly been building for the past couple months in collaboration with my friends at Polaroid. It’s a group art show called 50 | 50... read more ›

Thanks to the couple hundred of you who took a stab at breaking down the image I nabbed of Prince Manvendra [note that this thumbnail here is a crop, not the final...go to the original post to see that one]. A couple of you nailed it to varying degrees. Here’s my breakdown of the image: First, one thing I think you'd find interesting with this image is that I had less than 5 minutes including... read more ›
