It may be pine trees, stockings, eggnog and carols where I'm at in the 'States, but here's a look at some seasonal partying elsewhere in the world. Ice swimming, road races, and...it turns out...even KFC. Serbia, Thailand, Japan and the West Bank represent. Whatever you celebrate, however you celebrate and wherever you are.... read more ›

Surf fans have likely already seen the video of Garrett McNamara, a 44-year-old Hawaii native, breaking the Guinness World Record for largest wave every ridden. Caught in Nazare, Portugal, the wave was measured by an independent panel of experts at a jaw-dropping 78 feet. Apparently McNamara almost missed out on this wave because he was so exhausted from the previous day of riding waves that, according to the professional surfer, "were a little... read more ›

In the process of drooling over my iPhone 5, I got the inside line on two new photo apps that I love and want to share... Lightt and Mirrorgram. First, is.... Lightt Lightt is perhaps THE breakout photo app that splits the difference between photos and video better than I've ever seen in mobile, while nailing the best of both worlds (ala some of my chasejarvisFRAMES videos but in created in your hand on the... read more ›

Congratulations to "Fearless Felix" and the crew at Red Bull for inspiring the world's imagination yesterday when Felix Baumgartner stepped out of his capsule halfway to outer space and plummeted back to Earth from more than 120,000 feet (24 miles) above Roswell, New Mexico. The 43-year-old pilot became the first person to break the sound barrier outside an aircraft reaching speeds of mach 1.24 (834mph). To break the record, he stepped off a tiny ledge... read more ›

The age of context is upon us. Last week we featured some POV footage of mind-blowing surfing action. It was fun, sporting and intentionally creative. The clip above is on the the whole other side of the spectrum. It's real, raw, and unnerving from the middle of an active battlefield. No doubt, it was not created with artistic purpose. But it captures the context and imagery of what it is like, visually, to be in... read more ›

I've been lucky enough to travel to a lot of far-flung places and I've seen my share of amazing things. But this hour-long event captured in the video above was one of the most beautiful, humbling and amazing things I have ever seen in my entire life. I was so dumb struck that I could hardly put the camera in front of my face to capture it... Last month my crew and I... read more ›

The weekend is here my friends [almost]. I'm resolved to go do something fun. Something creative. Something active. The videos below inspire all three actions. There has never been a more exciting time in the history to be a photographer. Technology in enabling accessibility (and usability) like never before. Hell, if you can imagine it, you can capture it. And you dont have to spend an arm and a leg to do it. Helmet cam... read more ›

Alright photo friends, gear geeks, and camera droolers... UPDATE: The debate continues below on Nikon's newly released D600. Win or fail? ++++++ Big announcement today at Haus of Gaga Nikon. But for the first time in quite some... read more ›
