Which Photo is Better: A or B?

Runner.jpg

I was just recently commissioned for a campaign and shot about 1000 images to capture final image for this well known sports company. In the end, it came down to the two images above. As is usually the case, the final image is tough to choose, with lots of factors under consideration, lots of stakeholders picking their favorite. There was much debate.

I’ve posted stuff like this before and was really excited by the resulting discussion, so I figured I’d throw it out there again… WHICH IS BETTER, A or B?

Vote in the comments. Love to know ‘why’ if you care to explain your thoughts. 600 px wide versions of each image after the jump…hit [‘continue reading’ below]. After you all weigh in, I’ll tell you which one was used and why.

This is PHOTO A, below.

A has my vote. The flare in B is too much, while the one in A is just enough and right above her head, so it draws your eye up to her face. She has a better facial expression in photo A rather than B as well.

I vote A. I really like the sun burst in B but I think it pulls focus from the runner.

Prefer A myself, i like B, but the flare is to much in my opinion.

I vote for A. The lens flare in B is just not doing it for me.

    Chase,

    Firstly nice shot.

I prefer A. Makes me think of going for a run after work in summer (something I enjoy)

As for B. Remember when you were a kid and you rubbed your eyes really hard and you’d get that spot in the middle of your eye? That’s the odd feeling when I look at B. Not to be harsh, just honest. My laptop is not calibrated so it might be different in print
