Clients From Hell [Friday Photo Humor]

clients from hell via chase jarvisClient: “How come all the photos I took have the heads cut off?”

You: “Hmm, Did you look though the view finder when you took them?”

Client: “I don’t know what that is. Can’t you just move the picture up so I can see their heads? I mean they’re digital pictures?”

Clients come in all shapes, sizes and levels of experience in every line of work. Embedded this here due to its relevance. If you have clients at all–or might be one yourself–check out Clients From Hell for an occasional laugh. This one sent to me but a bunch of peeps (including Taylor at Hipsters With Kids). Have other laughs? Share them below or at CFH. Have a great weekend. Take lots of pictures.

Its absurd how often this actually happens. I’ve actually started taking second shots of the same photos with their heads now, just to be safe!

I had a request for a quote from a prospective client for shots of their historic hotel which was under new management and being gutted and re-built to 4* quality…. an upgrade costing between £0.5- £1m.
They wanted kick ass pictures to last 10 years for website and all marketing material.

Them: Can you quote for the project. 16 rooms in 4 styles, with the new bar, restaurant, and 1 or 2 conference rooms?

Me: Sure. I’ll put it together for you and email it through. (estimate sent for dress, capture, editing + licensing)

Them 10 minutes later: Oh … that’s a lot more than we expected, We can’t afford that.

Me: What had you budgeted for the job?

    Them: £300

This was in my mind when I wrote this: http://bit.ly/WYSHAPFYMM

Explain your costs in detail? I am guessing you only gave one final amount to them.

I gave them a complete estimate split into all the elements.
Explaining how licensing worked was fun too …. 🙁

Ha ha…. i had a few like this personally from my friends and family… 🙂
    1) friend: “Hey I got a cool picture but it’s B&W…. well you are a photographer, you should be able to change it to color?”
    me: facepalm

    2) the photo: a group of people with their feet cut off from the knees down but lots of space in the top part…

close relative: ” Could you crop it so that you can see the feet? ”
me: (with a firm voice because I was asked a stupid question I thought no one with an education could ask) “NO because you photographed it this way”
close relative: “OK OK….. you don’t have to be rude about it”
