Remember when I did the original chasejarvisLIVE photo shoot way back in winter? If you recall, I was shooting the album cover image for alt/punk country band Brent Amaker and the Rodeo. We also did post production and editing on the images LIVE as well a few weeks after the shoot. Well now it’s time to print these suckers on a limited edition run of vinyl and there is somewhat of a debate on which image is better.
Simply put, and with no further explanation, I thought I’d ask for your thoughts. So which is better, A or B?
Vote in the comments. Also love to know ‘why’ if you care to explain. 500 px wide images after the jump…
[ also, reminder that if you like music and you like chasejarvisLIVE, I’m hosting rising hip hip star RA Scion (of Common Market and Victor Shade) TODAY in 90 minutes at 10:30 pacific/1:30 eastern (GMT – 8). With the foreground lady laying down…

OR.
B. With the foreground lady standing up…
Love to hear your thoughts.

I’d go for B – depending on the title of the album and if the focus should be heavily on the guy holding the girl.
In a the lighting is too dark on the other band members and the horns hanging on the back wall. – also wall related in A the guy hoding the girl is partly covering the picture frames in the backround making it look messy.
but as i said – depends if the album title focuses on the guy holding the girl in my opinion
B. awesome cuz the girl on the righ filln the whole frame pulls your eyes in. After your realize ya shes hot you look for more and oh? THere is the band and hey there is another band member and another. That should be subject of this image. The large girl in the thrid of the frame could create a triangle of eye movment- which leads you to the band. They make sound that lead you to listen to their music. This image does the same. Justifing the subject.
A doesnt work cuz it to busy. You see the dark girl you look at her boobies you see some shit in the background you look back at the boobies. then you realize there is another girl oh is she okay.. total distraction.
I prefer A. because of the action in it
I prefer B. I like the depth and the composition much more. A is a litte flat.
My pick is B. To me, B has more depth and feels more natural. I feel as if the setup is in A is too contrived and a little awkward with the model laying down. I also like the two musicians next to each other in the background in B. I like the fact that they aren’t as balanced in B. Great work!
