Correct Rolling Shutter from Nikon D300s, D90, Canon 5d, iPhone 3Gs

WARNING: Nerdy tech content. If you're shooting a lot of video with all the video dSLRs and even the iPhone 3Gs, you've no doubt noticed the slight "wobble" when panning those cameras quickly. It usually translates visually into the slanting, or canting, of what are supposed to be vertical lines in image that you're recording. This phenomenon is the result of the digital rolling shutter, the mechanism by which these cameras write to their... read more ›

Uber-Cool Video Projections On Buildings

There's been a lot of hot fuss lately about what's possible with new projection media, especially in urban environments, onto building facades, etc. Last time I was in Paris there was similar stuff emerging on building walls in the Marais, but this seems to be evolving quickly and really taking off. Impressive live performance here in this video from NuFormer. If you liked that real clip and you want to see what NuFormer think is possible,... read more ›

Morning of the Shoot: A Quick Video Tour

http://www.facebook.com/v/122990946404You asked for more behind the scenes stuff, so I'm doing my best to deliver. This quick, very recent vid is from the morning of a shoot for a global ad campaign. Contracts and lawyers make it so I can't show any details, but I thought there's plenty to take away from the general buzz that's going on. Sort of fun. I know this is super lo-fi, but we're all crazy busy, so you're getting... read more ›

Chase Jarvis CURRENT: The Consequences of Creativity

I was recently invited to speak to the Art Director's Club of Denver and the ASMP about creativity, and subsequently delivered that keynote two weeks ago. This video is a recording of that talk. Hope it strikes a chord with you.I had a blast connecting with some of the creative community in Denver/Boulder while I was in town, and it was also a great honor to judge your annual advertising awards show with some rather... read more ›

Subversive Winner: Make A Music Video With Surveillance Cameras

I missed this when it came out last month, but I'm smitten with the concept and decided it must be shared. Regardless of whether you like the track or not... Reminds us why art and new media is so freaking cool. From The Future of Media: "The band set up their music equipment, from microphones to drum kit, in eighty different locations, including buses and what appear to be taxi cabs, and then requested... read more ›

Banksy Vs. Bristol Museum: New “Secret” Exhibit Takes Over

One of my favorites, the legendary street artist, Banksy, has "secretly" taken over the city museum in his hometown of Bristol. In a rare statement, Bansky said: "The people in Bristol have always been very good to me - I decided the best way to show my appreciation was by putting a bunch of old toilets and some live chicken nuggets in their museum...This is the first show I’ve ever done where taxpayers’ money... read more ›

Someone’s Got to Be First

In any discipline, it's tough to be first. The first guy to make a battery powered car, the first first gal to wear combat boots with a babydoll dress, or the first guy to eat 50 hotdogs in 10 minutes. People may laugh at you. They might even point and laugh. In the world of creativity, it's especially tough. Not physically hard, but emotionally hard; hard to have the cajones to lay it out... read more ›

Songs For Eating And Drinking on The Boob Tube

http://www.viddler.com/player/68613c7f/Psyched (and happily surprised) that our Songs for Eating and Drinking project was deemed worthy of a 30 minute television special last week. Sample it here or if you prefer the boob tube, it runs several more times this month on The Local Music Show with John Richards (The Seattle Channel - cable 21) at 8:30pm on Thursdays and some other late night slots too. With any luck, this sucker is going global. Booyah-kashah. __
