Hello camera geeks, gearheads and… well… those of you who just want the best tools for your trade. You heard right, I'm back with another unboxing, this time of the hotly anticipated Nikon D4s -- generously sent to me to by my friends at DPReview for a hands-on first impression, and it's available from my homies/gear partners at Adorama. So here goes… First impressions: that familiar Nikon gold box looks pretty much like... read more ›

One image can be so powerful - able to elicit strong emotions and social awareness in an instant. Consider this project by a photographer who portraits elderly animals with a Hasselblad as a way to cope with her own mother having Alzheimer’s. The photographs she created are profound and heart wrenching, a unique look into aging with subjects we oftentimes overlook. Click through the tabs above to see some of her evocative images. The photographer’s... read more ›

Brian is a decade-long veteran shooter, with images to prove it. I meant to highlight his work immediately after he took Best in Show and People's Choice awards at the action-sports-focused "Pro Photographer Showdown" which went down in Whistler, BC a while back, but got a little sidetracked. Regardless, here is the work now. Above are some of my favorite from Brian's portfolio. Click through the image tabs above - the last one is Brian's... read more ›

If you're primarily an on-location photographer or filmmaker, then you know how much value a great location can add to the shoot. So today I'm introducing another Series (ala the 'Emerging Talent' and others...) where I feature supercool locations around the world. NYC Photographer Jamie Livingston shot a Polaroid photo everyday for 6,000 days, or, roughly, 18 years. The first shot was of his girlfriend at the time on March 13, 1979. His last photo was on his deathbed, dying of cancer on October 25, 1997. And so I ask you, how strong is YOUR commitment to a creative life? Enough said. Here's the site where most of the images are scanned in... [Thanks Lee.(via this...)]

I've shared the whole lot of these before in video format, but today it gives me great pleasure to present my favorite 60 or so images-- edited down from a body of work called "Life of the Party" containing more than 21,000 images captured in a single 5 hour evening. Yes you read that correctly...(via an out-of-control set up at our last studio anniversary party). Click here for my favorite results. [***UPDATE: BTW, a lot... read more ›

A couple weeks ago, I made a call out to y'all: "Show me yours, and I'll show you mine". I was kissing winter goodbye and --as we patted on the ass on the way out the door--I wanted to see any winter photos you were interested in sharing. Well I finally made it through the couple thousand or more that came in. And whoa. Some great stuff - thanks so much for sharing the inspiration.... read more ›
