New Website

Lots of updating and housecleaning going on around here lately, the most fun being the launch of our new site here at www.chasejarvis.com.

As such, I wanted to invite you to poke around our new digs. Lots of new photos–twenty something new galleries, there’s finally a video page, and…well..a lot more. And we’re continuing to update and transform the site into a smooth machine over the coming week. That said, your feedback is incredibly valuable to us. We’re listening – so thanks in advance. We know there’s still a lot to work on, especially with the blog and the mobile version. (There’s still flash in there, but, we’re evolving and will continue to…). At any rate please hit up whatever needs addressing in the comments. Or if it’s time sensitive and something’s busted, ping @dartanyon.

Huge thanks to my crew for the hard work – especially amidst all the other work we are lucky enough to be buried in. And we’d be remiss to not thank the great team at Livebooks.com – Matt, Dale, Adam, and Jericho. Thanks a mil for the collaborative process in creating our new site.

I’ll be on the Twit.tv Photo show at 1:30PM today talking about the new site, and photography in general. Tune in.

And again, thank YOU for visiting.

GAHHH! I was using your old site as an example of how I am making my new site!!!! and now it is gone 🙁

On the landing page, as soon as I hover over the main large image in the middle on Chrome 13 on Windows 7, it shows scroll bars. Doesn’t happen until I hover over one of the main middle images. Otherwise looks pretty good at first glance. Great job everyone.

    Looks pretty good!

One nit-pick: I’d increase the margins/padding for the blog posts. It seems just a little crowded. The text is just a little too close to the images in the posts. Also, on my iPad, there is no margin on the left side. Unless that was intended, you might want to increase that a little just to make it a little cleaner.

I also agree with the other posters, dump the flash as soon as possible. Jquery and HTML5 will do a better job and you will be able to maximize SEO more effectively.

Great fresh new take on the site.

Glad you kept it nice, clean and simple and kept all the great content nice and accessible.

Great work Chase, Dartanyon. and the team 🙂

I’m really digging the organization of the site. I cant wait for the HTML 5 version as some people mentioned. Only thing I’ll point out is that i liked the font on the older site more than this new font. But on the website, I love how the images are neatly organized and the video section is sick too. I love everything about it. For some reason, this new site seems a bit faster loading than the old one which is also a PLUS. Just adjust the font and it will be perfect. Again, thanks for everything. I was not happy that you didnt do a pre-interview and didn’t drop in at the end of Gale Tattersall’s creativelive seminar but I guess this is not the right time and place to talk about it. It was a really amazing workshop and I gained a lot more on vision than that of Vincent Laforet (not saying Vincent wasnt great)…Anyways, again, thanks for all the goodies and new images that I just feasted my eyes on. You’re a true inspiration!!!
