Remember when I did the original chasejarvisLIVE photo shoot way back in winter? If you recall, I was shooting the album cover image for alt/punk country band Brent Amaker and the Rodeo. We also did post production and editing on the images LIVE as well a few weeks after the shoot. Well now it’s time to print these suckers on a limited edition run of vinyl and there is somewhat of a debate on which image is better.
Simply put, and with no further explanation, I thought I’d ask for your thoughts. So which is better, A or B?
Vote in the comments. Also love to know ‘why’ if you care to explain. 500 px wide images after the jump…
[ also, reminder that if you like music and you like chasejarvisLIVE, I’m hosting rising hip hip star RA Scion (of Common Market and Victor Shade) TODAY in 90 minutes at 10:30 pacific/1:30 eastern (GMT – 8). With the foreground lady laying down…

OR.
B. With the foreground lady standing up…
Love to hear your thoughts.

One thing to leave under consideration is the fact that this is a shoot for an album cover, so presenting each member clearly is very important… but then I noticed that there is ONE EXTRA girl on the “B” picture… this has me confused on the intention of these photos.
Said that, if she is not part of the group, then I’ll go for the A one simply because if this pictures are the presentation or first impression that a band wants to give, its best if all the faces on the photo take equal importance and clarity in the overall…. If this was an artistic photo, and not a cover, B has more story and less studio air into it.
I like B better, but I choose A. (if that makes sense)
I’d go with B, the woman in the foreground provides that immediate hook, and guides you in towards the cowboy with the dead(?) girl in the center of the scene. There’s a great dynamic between what’s lit to be the center of attention and the jarring foreground. B does seem a little flat compared to A though, like a grey haze
B.
In A they’re hot girls serial killers. In B they’re all having some serious fun, including the girls. And B is also visually more dynamic.
B!
The girl in front bothers me in A. Photo B does it for me all the way!
