I was in Paris last week. Part work, but mostly fun. Eating, drinking, being merry, and of course, snapping photos my iPhone–as I do everyday–with no end goal beyond staying creatively engaged.
I was just now kicking through photos from the trip and stumbled on a couple of snapshots I thought were interesting for various reasons. I’ve posted stuff like this before and was really excited by the resulting discussion, so I figured I’d throw it out there again… These are of course just snapshots, but even snapshots have merit. AND these photos are VERY different from one another…. So, simply put, I thought I’d ask for your thoughts, which is better, A or B? And why?
Vote in the comments. Also love to know ‘why’ if you care to explain. 500 px wide images after the jump…

Here’s Photo A:

Here’s Photo B:
Which is better and why?

Photo B – Because of the busy dark horizontal edginess of the foreground followed by the light round “escape” feeling that the ferris wheel brings, almost a calming, if you will, at the end of a storm…
Photo B is my pick. I think the composition and contrast are better than in Photo A. I find the lighting more dynamic. The lines of perspective draw my eye into and through the image more thoroughly also. In Photo B I notice the white shirt first and then move into the upper right corner in a kind of Nike swoosh, missing out on the rest of the image. I do think texture is more interesting in Photo B though. I think if the composition were a bit different it would have more potential based on texture and subject matter.
B for sure. That huge wheel just makes that photo. That is the interaction between all the square stuff and the big wheel. Great shots though both of them.

I happen to like both, but for different reasons. Photo A for the story it tells. At first glance the man laying on the ground did not pop out to me, he was more subtle.
Photo B, Paris is Black and white to me. I like the symmetry and point of view in this shot
Photo A is better. I actually like the fact that you don’t understand at frist look what’s happening, you discover it while looking at the picture. Nice angle and nice lines as well.
