Here’s another 60 Second Portrait, starring Mike Relm this time. I shot this after our recent episode of chasejarvisLIVE. If you dig it, check out the rest of my 60 Second Portraits here.

On Tuesday my post on backing up your digital data elicited hundreds of responses online. Many of you had a good quip on a time-tested methodology on how to back up your most treasured memories: print them. What a concept - the photo as an object. As our culture ebbs and, largely FLOWS to just some bits and bytes on a hardrive or server somewhere, an actual physical... read more ›

Albert Einstein said "Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand." Coming from a guy who had some serious knowledge that is a powerful statement. One of the things that stimulates imagination is, of course, travel.... read more ›

Picture Monica Lewinsky w a cigar, Hitler in a bunker, the Beatles w their lawyers. It's all here. Or rather it's all in your mind... So what does a book look like that is targeted at visual artists and creatives, yet has exactly ZERO pictures and isn't a how-to? Well, it looks like well-known photo agent Frank Meo's latest personal project called Mind Prints. A hardback book laden w typography. From the intro:We all collect... read more ›

Remember the group fine art show I was bubbling about in September? I intro'd it here, updated the project here. In short, 50 fellow artists -- some of the worlds best known photographers, street artists, fashion designers, painters, celebrities, sculptors and more -- came together at the lofty Phillips de Pury gallery in NYC to raise money for charity... This here video chronicles just a part of the story--the making of my piece... read more ›

Two weeks ago I announced a labor of love collaboration project (plus some behind the scenes photos...) that's been underway for the past few months. It’s a group art show called Made in Polaroid 50 | 50 | 50 - top artists from photography, painting, graffiti, filmmaking, design, theater, acting, sculpture and more all have come together to raise money for Free Arts NYC, a nonprofit that provides under-served kids and families with art education,... read more ›

If you know anything about me, you know that creating multi-disciplinary, socially enabled art AND getting unlikely people together into one community are really important tenets to my career and my life. It’s with that in mind that I’m today spilling the beans to you about a project on which I’ve quietly been building for the past couple months in collaboration with my friends at Polaroid. It’s a group art show called 50 | 50... read more ›

Looking at more than 1000 images a day is a real treat. And pulling out 100 to 200 each day for printing is even cooler. It's sort of like dipping my hand in a river at any one time, and being able to pull out a slice of life. Here's four of the 150 I pulled out today. Props to their respective creators, listed below. A broad spectrum - but that's what I love. Lemme... read more ›

I don't talk about gear all that much, but this one goes out to you camera geeks and gearheads. So many of you have been asking about the array of cameras I'm shooting while living in NYC (and somewhat in line with yesterday's post) we decided to whip up a quick Chase Jarvis TECH video to run you through them. Ten formats in all, from top of the line Nikons, to old Polaroids, even some... read more ›

Since we're not tracking image by image whose work is hanging daily at the gallery in the Ace NYC (it's on a near constant rotation of prints - hundreds per day), we'll continue to publish vids like this and still images for you all to check out. REMINDER: this gallery wall changes every day, sometimes 2x per day, with 100-200 new images going up in every update. Stay tuned for yours. Still humbled... read more ›
